Hi everyone! I recently taught technology in an elementary school in grades k-4. I live in New Jersey and have two son's that are sophmores, one in college and one in high school. I am hoping that this program at Walden can turn my life around and open new doors.

Here is my unit plan overview and I welcome any suggestions! Thank you!

Susan,
What a great project especially this time of year. As a person who has had family involved in Iraq this is truly wonderful for those soldiers. I like the mixture of technology and programs you are using with the students. I also think it is wise to let the students do the fun stuff like borders and art first so they can then focus on the writing. A lot of time they rush the writing to get to the "fun stuff".

Susan,
What a great way to incorporate math, writing and compassion into a classroom project. Your resources are wonderful. I plan on using them for my class as well. We just packed a shoe box for an 8 year old child with Samaritan Purse Christmas Shoebox and the students loved the experience. We will incorporate the soldier and troop idea for our next social project.

Hi members!
Thanks for the positive feedback on my unit plan.
The document below is my lesson for my On-Line Collaboration. Please feel free to give me feedback on the good, the bad and the ugly! Thanks!

Hello Susan,
A backup plan if technology goes down is a good idea, I hate when that happens! I believe you are preparing a rubric for the writing assignment which will be given to each student, another good idea! This should keep all students on task and also help in accommodating lower level learners. You may want to mention that in your lesson.

Susan,

I think its a great idea giving the students the rubric to help with the creation of their project. I feel its a good way for students to see what areas they need to work on to get the highest grade possible. I did the same thing with my projects. It does limit the number of questions students might have.
